This September, Alan Jackson will be honored with another accolade recognizing his legendary status in country music.
The Country Hall of Famer will receive the Kris Kristofferson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Nashville Songwriters Awards ceremony.
This esteemed award is given annually to a songwriter whose work has significantly contributed to the American songbook and inspired the careers of others.
According to the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), the recipient is personally chosen by Kris Kristofferson himself.
Jackson joins a distinguished group of country music legends who have received this honor, including Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Bill Anderson, Garth Brooks, and Bobby Braddock.
Since the early 1990s, Jackson has been a prominent figure in the neo-traditional country movement. He has achieved 26 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and written many of his own hits, such as "Gone Country" and "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow."
He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018.
This latest accolade comes as Jackson plans to retire from touring. His Last Call: One More for the Road Tour, recently announced, is being framed as a farewell tour, though he has not definitively called it his final tour.
Jackson is not the only honoree at the upcoming Nashville Songwriters Awards. Buddy Cannon, known for his work with Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney, will receive the NSAI President's Keystone Award.
The 2024 Nashville Songwriters Awards will take place at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Sept. 24.
