George Strait breaks 47 year old US record

Updated: Jun 20

George Strait (as always) had massive crowd to College Station, Texas, setting a new record for the largest ticketed concert in United States history.

The previous record was held by the Grateful Dead, who performed for 107,019 people at Raceway Park in New Jersey in 1977.

On Saturday (June 15), 110,905 fans packed the Texas A&M University football stadium to witness the king of country music.

According to Setlist.fm, Strait kicked off the show with a cover of Rodney Crowell's "Stars on the Water." He delivered an impressive 31-song setlist, including a five-song encore featuring classics like "Check Yes or No" and "Here for a Good Time."

The concert took place at Kyle Field, the home stadium of Texas A&M University, where Texas natives Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman opened for Strait.

In addition to opening for the country music icon, McCollum celebrated his birthday backstage with his wife Hallie Ray, family, crew, and friends.

Before the main event, Strait treated fans to two new songs, "MIA in MIA" and "The Little Things," from his upcoming album "Cowboys and Dreamers," set for release on September 6.

This milestone adds to Strait's illustrious career. According to Billboard, he holds the record for the most No.1 hits of any artist in any genre.

He is also the only artist to chart a Top 10 hit every decade for 30 years and holds the record for the most No.1 albums, gold albums, and platinum albums in country music.
