Great Western Railway has unveiled its new 'Shania Train,' a tribute to the Queen of Country Pop, Shania Twain.
broadcaster Nick Grimshaw revealed the train at London Paddington on Monday, June 17, showcasing the clever pun.
The 'Shania Train' will be making summer appearances across the Great Western Railway network, including Castle Cary, the closest station to the Glastonbury Festival.
Shania Twain herself will be performing at Glastonbury, Chepstow Racecourse, and BST Hyde Park in the coming weeks.
The GWR train features a vinyl pink leopard print design, perfectly befitting the iconic Canadian singer.
This tribute came about after Grimshaw, known as Grimmy, chatted with Shania on the BBC Sounds podcast "Sidetracked with Annie and Nick."
The episode previewed her upcoming 'Legend slot' at Glastonbury Festival and is part of the BBC’s coverage on TV, BBC iPlayer, radio, and BBC Sounds.
During the podcast, Shania expressed her delight at having a train in Switzerland named 'Shania Train.' Grimmy suggested there should be a UK equivalent running to Castle Cary during the festival.
GWR quickly picked up the conversation on social media, responding with a design for the 'Shania Train' vinyl, celebrating the singer-songwriter famous for hits like "Man! I Feel Like A Woman," "That Don’t Impress Me Much," and "If You’re Not in It for Love (I’m Outta Here)."
Surprised passengers watched as Grimmy unveiled the 'Shania Train' on the side of Intercity Express Train 802109.
GWR Sales & Marketing Director Amanda Burns said, “As soon as we heard about the 'Shania Train,' it impressed us very much! Shania Twain is a country music icon, and this is a great way to celebrate her forthcoming appearances at Glastonbury, Chepstow Racecourse, and BST Hyde Park.”
