Bowen Young team up with UK Country star Kezia Gill for new release

Updated: Oct 28

BOWEN * YOUNG have unveiled a dynamic, reimagined version of their powerful track “Hair Of The Dog,” featuring award-winning UK singer/songwriter Kezia Gill, who is currently on her “The Story So Far” tour across the UK and Ireland.

The collaboration came about after the two acts crossed paths at the Highways Festival at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year.

Following a spontaneous backstage jam session where they played each other’s songs, the chemistry between BOWEN * YOUNG and Kezia Gill was undeniable, inspiring the Nashville duo to bring Kezia on board for a fresh take on “Hair Of The Dog.”

“We’re thrilled to have Kezia’s incredible voice on this new version of ‘Hair Of The Dog’ — a song that’s special to us,” BOWEN * YOUNG shared.

“Yes, it’s about hangovers, but not just from a big night out. Sometimes it’s the aftermath of a setback, the feeling that your dreams aren’t your own anymore.

"It’s about picking yourself up and remembering who you are. Kezia really felt that meaning, and now she’s become a friend. We had an amazing day in the studio — nothing beats recording with your mates!”

Kezia Gill added, “When I was first invited to collaborate with BOWEN YOUNG at the Royal Albert Hall during the Highways Festival, I loved every minute of it. I instantly connected with Clare and Brandon, and I felt our voices blended beautifully. A few months later, I was honoured when they asked me to feature on this new version of the track. I love the song, love Bowen Young, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

The original “Hair Of The Dog” is featured on BOWEN * YOUNG’s debut album Us, released through Snakefarm/Integral.

The 10-track album, celebrated for its haunting melodies and storytelling, was co-produced by renowned Americana songwriter/producer Sean McConnell and Nashville’s Roger Alan Nichols, capturing the duo’s signature “Cinematic Americana” sound.

“This album is a celebration of love, resilience, and the power of music to connect us,” says Clare Bowen. “We poured everything we had into creating Us.”

Clare Bowen, known for her role as Scarlett O’Connor on the hit series Nashville, and Brandon Young, a singer-songwriter from Connecticut, formed BOWEN * YOUNG in 2013.

Bowen moved to Nashville in 2012, where she quickly became respected by the city’s music elite, finding mentors in legends like T-Bone Burnett and Buddy Miller.

Young, who began singing at age five, eventually settled in Nashville, where he juggled songwriting at night with working as a courier by day. His musical career blossomed as he spent a decade touring with John Hiatt and collaborating with artists like Emmylou Harris.

Their partnership began when Young stepped in last-minute to be Bowen’s duet partner during her first solo performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Since then, they’ve brought their unique sound to stages around the world, including their UK debut at British Summer Time in Hyde Park with Billy Joel and Daryl Hall, and more recently, the Royal Albert Hall.
