Tucker Wetmore made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Sept. 10, earning a standing ovation after an impressive three-song set that included fan favorite “Wind Up Missin’ You” and the first-ever live performance of his unreleased track “What Not To.”
The night became even more memorable when UMG Nashville Chair & CEO Cindy Mabe and Back Blocks Music CEO Rakiyah Marshall surprised Wetmore on stage with two RIAA Gold plaques for his back-to-back Billboard Hot 100 hits, “Wine Into Whiskey” and “Wind Up Missin’ You.”
Reflecting on the milestone, Wetmore shared, “Before I moved to Nashville, I visited here with my mom in 2020. I remember sitting outside the Opry and telling her, ‘I’m going to play here one day,’ and now it’s happening.
"If you believe in yourself and have a dream, you can make it happen. And if you’re wondering how, Philippians 4:13 says, ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.’”
Wetmore’s Opry debut was part of Face The Fight Night, an event aimed at raising awareness about veteran suicide.
During his set, Wetmore took a moment to honour veterans in the audience, those still serving, and those who have passed, dedicating his performance in the legendary circle to them.
Wetmore’s debut EP Waves on a Sunset is set for release on Oct. 4. The eight-track collection will feature five new songs, including “Silverado Blue,” which drops this Friday.
Following his performance on Luke Bryan’s “Farm Tour 2024” later this month, Wetmore will kick off his first-ever headlining tour, the “Waves on a Sunset Tour 2024,” starting on the EP’s release day in Statesboro, Georgia.
