Morgan Wallen's bar has encountered another setback, with the opening date now postponed. According to a statement obtained by Billboard, This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen will not be opening its doors over Memorial Day weekend as initially planned.
“We’re proud of our team who has worked tirelessly to prepare Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen for opening," the statement reads.
"The ground-up construction of a six-story venue launching with hundreds of team members is a tremendous amount of work and a complex process.
“When we open, we want This Bar to be an exceptional experience for guests," it continues.
"Unfortunately, the process requires more time, and we are not able to open and provide that experience this Memorial Day weekend. Rest assured it will be well worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming guests soon.”
A new opening date has not been announced.
On May 21, the council voted to reject a 20-foot sign featuring Wallen's name that was to hang outside the bar.
"I don't want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who's throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs," stated at-large Council member Delishia Porterfield (quote via the Tennessean).
Wallen was arrested after allegedly throwing a chair off the roof of Chief's — a bar owned by Eric Church — on April 7. He faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges from that incident.
