Miranda Lambert to be honoured as Country Icon

Miranda Lambert will be honoured as this year’s Country Icon at the People’s Choice Country Awards.

As the most-awarded artist in ACM history, Lambert is not only a country music powerhouse but also a passionate advocate for shelter animals, a successful restaurateur, businesswoman, and a New York Times best-selling author.

Her ninth studio album, Postcards from Texas, is set to release on September 13, following the success of Palomino—the top female country album debut of 2022, which also earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.

Palomino was widely acclaimed, landing on year-end best lists from The New York Times, TIME, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum, and People.

It continues the legacy of her illustrious career, which includes seven No. 1 solo albums, 10 top radio singles, over 80 prestigious awards, and multiple sales certifications.

"Miranda Lambert has been a tour de force in country music for more than 20 years. Her groundbreaking albums have captured the hearts of fans around the globe," says Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events & Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment.

"We are thrilled to honor her career, fierce individuality, and innovation in the industry with the Country Icon Award."

The awards ceremony, hosted by Shania Twain, will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, September 26, at 7 p.m. CT on NBC and Peacock.

The late Toby Keith received the inaugural Country Icon Award during last year’s event.
