Ingrid Andress has revealed that she was intoxicated during her rocky performance of the National Anthem at the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night (July 15).
Viral Performance Sparks Concern
Andress's off-key rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" quickly went viral, with many comparing it to some of the worst National Anthem performances in history.
In response, the "More Hearts Than Mine" singer has issued a candid statement about her condition during the performance and her plans to seek help.
Statement and Apology
"I'm not gonna bulls--t y'all, I was drunk last night," Andress confessed in her statement, breaking her silence after the performance. "I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need.
That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition."
A Rough Patch and Plans for Recovery
Before the unfortunate performance, Andress had been out of the spotlight, dealing with personal challenges.
She had shared with her fans via email that she was going through a difficult period, including parting ways with key members of her team, which led to what she described as a depressive state.
"I had to part ways with some people who've helped me make a name for myself," she wrote. "It sent me into what my country America calls 'depression,' but I'm not a doctor."
Feeling at her lowest, Andress returned from Nashville to her home state of Colorado to recharge and gain a new perspective. The National Anthem performance was her first major appearance after this hiatus.
Looking Ahead
Ingrid Andress is now focused on her recovery and is committed to getting back on track. Her candid admission and decision to seek help reflect her determination to overcome this challenging period and return stronger.
