Chase Rice announces album 'Go Down Singin'

Chase Rice delves into self-reflection with his upcoming indie album, Go Down Singin’, set for release on September 20.

The album cover art mirrors that of his I Hate Cowboys album, featuring a recreated photo of his late father holding Coors Banquets in the late ‘80s in Wyoming.

Through this homage, Rice continues to honor the man who was his childhood hero, viewing the 11-song collection as a step toward becoming “the man my father always believed I could be.”

“At 38, I’m at a place where I’m beginning to understand myself more,” Rice explains. “I’ve been journaling since I was 15, but sharing my thoughts with others has always been a challenge.

I’m a deep person, but expressing that in everyday life is hard for me, so I pour it into my music. Go Down Singin’ represents where I am and what I want.

I’m starting to see myself as who I want to be, not who I thought I should be, and I think many men struggle with this.”

The album includes a notable collaboration with three-time Grammy winner Lori McKenna. After seeing Rice perform in Boston, McKenna recognized the depth and potential in him.

“I brought her a song I’d started, 'Oh Tennessee,' which tells the story of moving to Nashville, achieving success, and then losing it all,” Rice recalls. “I knew she would understand, and from there, we found we had a lot to say together.”

This track is one of their four co-writes on the album, showcasing the powerful synergy between the two songwriters.
