Cowboy and cowgirl culture is taking center stage in 2024.
Spotify reports that over 222,000 user-generated "cowgirl" playlists have been created globally on the platform this year.
Additionally, U.S. streams of their "Coastal Cowgirl" and "Neon Cowgirl" playlists have surged by more than 100% in 2024.
On Spotify’s algorithmically-curated "Daylist" playlists, the "Country Love Songs Coastal Cowgirl" title has become a favorite among U.S. listeners.
To mark the trend, Spotify has introduced a "Year of the Cowgirl" hub on the platform, offering a collection of "cowgirl" playlists, featured music from female country artists, and related podcasts and audiobooks.
Spotify also hosted a "Year of the Cowgirl" event on Wednesday night (Aug. 7) at LA’s Desert 5 Spot.
The celebration included special performances by Carly Pearce and Carter Faith, along with a DJ set by Brandi Cyrus.
Guests enjoyed a night of line dancing, country music, and a tribute to female country artists.
