Morgan Wallen made history this weekend with a record-breaking two-night run at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, drawing a staggering 156,161 fans—the largest weekend turnout in the city’s history.
The shows, held on Sept. 20 and 22, shattered the previous attendance record of 148,407 set by The Jackson 5 in 1984.
Wallen kicked off Friday night's concert flanked by the 2024 National Champion Tennessee Volunteers baseball team, led by Coach Tony Vitello, trophy in hand. The more than 70,000-strong crowd erupted into cheers, reaching a deafening 114 decibels, as Wallen took the stage.
“Before we go any further, I want to make sure you make some noise for my band and crew who show up early to make sure we get to play the music y’all love,” Wallen told the crowd.
He went on to share how special the night was, noting the presence of his son, family, and close friends. “I’ve done a lot of great things, but this right here is going to be extremely hard to top as one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten to do.”
During his nearly two-hour set, Wallen treated fans to his unreleased song "Love Somebody," announcing its official release date as Oct. 18.
Midway through the show, he welcomed his hometown hero, Eric Church, for a duet of their track “Quittin’ Time” before being joined by Hardy and Ernest for “Up Down,” “Flower Shops,” and “Cowgirls.”
Sunday night’s encore performance featured another high-profile guest, two-time Super Bowl champion and former University of Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning.
Manning, in his retired college uniform, was joined by UTK coach Josh Heupel, quarterback Nico Iamaleava, and wide receiver Bru McCoy for a memorable walkout, met with thunderous applause from the crowd.
Wallen also took a moment to reflect on his rise to fame during a stripped-down performance of his Platinum hit, “Cover Me Up,” recalling his humble beginnings playing in Knoxville bars.
“We worked our way up from small venues, clubs, theaters, arenas, and amphitheaters—and now y’all sold out Neyland today. Thank you.”
Later in the night, Wallen brought out Miranda Lambert for a live performance of their No. 1 hit, "Thought You Should Know," followed by more collaborations with Hardy, Ernest, and a surprise appearance by Darius Rucker.
Rucker and Wallen closed out the night with a performance of the Diamond-certified hit, “Wagon Wheel,” much to the crowd’s delight.
Wallen’s “One Night At A Time 2024 Tour” has just three shows remaining, with stops at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on Oct. 4 and two consecutive nights at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on Oct. 18-19.
