Lainey Wilson current pathway might not scream “Disney Channel,” but her past certainly tells a different story. In a recent interview with FLAUNT, the Louisiana-native country star revealed that she once impersonated Hannah Montana.
Wilson shared this fun fact while promoting her upcoming album, Whirlwind. She began her professional journey as a Hannah Montana impersonator at the age of 13, maintaining the role of Miley Cyrus’ Disney alter ego until her senior year of high school.
During this time, she performed at parties and festivals and even opened her own shows as Hannah.
Reflecting on her past connection to the iconic character from the TV series Cyrus starred in from 2006 to 2011, Wilson expressed interest in collaborating with Miley Cyrus.
“Since I used to impersonate Hannah Montana, it would only make sense we had the best of both worlds,” she quipped.
Miley Cyrus, no stranger to country music thanks to her father Billy Ray Cyrus, explored the genre in her 2017 album Younger Now. She has covered numerous country hits and is a close friend of Dolly Parton.
Wilson is set to release Whirlwind on August 23 via BBR, following the announcement in May. She has already shared three singles from the album: “Hang Tight Honey,” “Country’s Cool Again,” and “4x4xU.”
The album will also feature a collaboration with Miranda Lambert.
Additionally, Wilson released the non-album single “Out Of Oklahoma” in June, which is part of the soundtrack for the upcoming Twisters movie.
