Miranda Lambert's 'Postcards From Texas album gets launch date

Updated: Jul 31

Miranda Lambert is set to release her first album with Republic Records, Postcards from Texas, on September 13. She dropped the latest track, "Alimony," giving fans a glimpse into the Lone Star State-inspired collection.

The acclaimed artist relocated to Austin’s Arlyn Recording Studios to craft the 14-track album with fellow Texan and Grammy winner Jon Randall.

The album features a mix of ballads, rockers, acoustic numbers, and steel guitar-infused tunes. "Alimony," drawing from Lambert's childhood experiences, is designed to get fans on the dance floor.

Laughing, Lambert says, “My parents were private investigators in Dallas, Texas, who worked on a lot of divorce cases in upscale areas, so this song was easy to write. I’ve been hearing about this stuff my whole life.”

Lambert wrote "Alimony," along with the unreleased "Looking Back on Luckenbach," with Shane McAnally and Natalie Hemby.

“We were out in my barn; I was showing Shane and Natalie the horses, and I asked Shane if he had any new titles,” she recalls.

“He mentioned one, and I said, ‘What is it? Your last one was ‘Looking Back on Luckenbach,’ which I didn’t think you could top.’

He said, ‘Well, it’s ‘If you’re gonna leave me in San Antone, remember the Alamo-neeeee…’’ Natalie and I were like, ‘Alright, Shane! Stop showing off.’

“We went back to the house, grabbed our guitars,” Lambert continues, “and I specifically wanted a shuffle. I love shuffles so much, and this record needed one! I knew I wanted one in my set because I haven’t done one in a while—and everybody loves a shuffle.”

Lambert and Randall enlisted electric guitarists Jedd Hughes and Ethan Ballinger, keyboardist Bukka Allen, bassist Rachel Loy, and drummer Conrad Choucroun to bring the track to life.

Postcards from Texas, now available for preorder, also includes previously released singles "Wranglers" and "Dammit Randy," a collaboration with Parker McCollum, and more.
