The Country Music Association has announced that country music legend George Strait will receive the 2024 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
Strait will be honored during “The 58th Annual CMA Awards” with a tribute performance by artists inspired by his influence. The ceremony will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 20, on ABC.
“Few artists are as purely Texas and purely country as George Strait, and fans around the world have benefited from his authenticity,” said CMA CEO Sarah Trahern.
“As a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and our most-nominated artist, he’s an inspiration to today’s leading artists. I’m thrilled to see him receive this well-deserved award next month.”
With a career spanning over four decades, Strait boasts 60 No. 1 singles and 33 Platinum or multi-Platinum albums.
Known for seamlessly blending tradition with freshness, Strait has captivated fans with his timeless performances and unmistakable style.
Strait is the only artist to have a Top 10 hit every year for over 30 years, selling more than 70 million albums and earning over 60 major industry awards.
His extensive discography—31 studio albums, three live albums, and 11 compilations—has solidified his legacy, including three CMA Entertainer of the Year wins (1989, 1990, and 2013) and a record 83 CMA nominations.
He is also a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
